Crazy week and no keys!

Its been about a week and I've been busy running around here and there and making this and that.

Friday we drove my sister to Boston to catch a flight to Las Vegas - slightly jealous - so me and Z stayed overnight at his Brothers to get a little party time in. Unfortunately do to party time Friday night - away from the kids - I didnt make it to the Sox game until the 4th inning! But I made it, and I was super glad not to make it until then since the weather was FRIGIDDDD - ummm my brother in law's girlfriend made him buy her a Sox sweatshirt because she went with a very light shirt and coat, boat shoes with no socks. CRAZYYY. I had 4 layers on and still freezing!

We then drove home from Boston to pick up the rascals and we all mellowed out watching tv the rest of the night - I think Jacoby made us watch Dumbo :)

Sunday we had Laura's son (which you can see at The Fab 5 Turns 30 blog) Keaton's baptism. I was the photographer - and my luck made the camera not work during Baptism time at the church, good thing I was able to get the shots of the kids at the bar at the after party instead hehe. (all non-alcoholic drinks going round there)

I somehow managed to finish Camryn's outfit for the Easter Egg Hunt at the park this Saturday morning coming up, last on the list is my niece's purses for Easter, until next week at least.

See the pants above Camryn has on - Jacoby had some weird come over him today, because I had a yelp call down from the balcony this afternoon when my cousin was over with her kids for play date: Jacoby put my pants in the toilet and is now getting it all over the hall way!!!!

My thoughts were ohhh no, so at least the toilet was flushed before he put them in there and I could mop up the floor and put the pants in the wash. Really though, he has never put anything in the toilet like that before. Poor guy then got a time out :(

Here's Camryn's new haircut I've been meaning to share, the hair cut she thinks is like the AMerican Girl doll Kit, but we kept it no shorter than the shoulders and she was still very happy.

I was very proud of this hat, i've been scared to try to make a hat, but I think it came out marvelous - yet Cam likes to wear it on the floral side and the intention was to wear it on the baige sparkly side.

Here I am - not necessarily todays outfit, because I was stranded at home due to leaving my keys at the Bro-in-laws Saturday - yup! Silly, woops, so and in the past I already lost my spare key to my car, so Im waiting until Friday to get them back. (today its Yoga pants and tee) The other day I went with these less flattering jeans from GAP, a tank, and the White light shirt bought from Target recently. The headband I wish you could see better because its my favorite from Anthropology. Its gold and sparkly- so pretty!

If the weather was being nice - Id love to sport some short cut offs and chunky sandals like Nicole's!

And this was my boy today - the boy who threw his sister's pants in the toilet! We working on potty training... only a few minor accidents. He also refused to put on any clothes today too - Lets just say it was one of those days with him :D

Here I am, Its raining, its pouring, Momma wants to be snoring....

This is what I threw on today out of pitty for the rain and wanting pure comfort. I think I need to picture myself next time on a night out or something, I am always giving you my day outfit with the kids, which is rare to find me in something less drab. As you can see though I tried to sass it up a bit with a flower in the hair - but then retired it as I thought I looked ridiculous since its a white flower and Easter hasn't even hit yet :P

The kids finally got their hair cut last night... Camryn too - dont have pictures yet though of them. Camryn's been begging to get her hair cut the Kit, the American Girl Doll, but Z has been against it saying her hair is toooo beautiful to cut. I finally talked him into to it, getting Camryn to think her hair is as short as Kit's, but its actually a wee bit below her shoulders. She was so happy though. This morning she ran into school announcing to her teachers and friends she got a hair cut (as if they wouldn't notice). Im so happy for her though, because she's so excited. I remember when I was younger my parents hated to let me cut my hair too so I figured, why make her suffer like I did when I wanted was to try a cute bob hair cut at 5, but wasn't allowed.

ZUMBA!

Yes Zumba, my friend Jenn got Laura and I to a Zumba-thon last Friday, it was intense! I loved it and only craved more, despite how tired and achey I was after. It was over an hour and a half of crazy routine dancing with tons and tons of women. I think having the tons of people there made it more intense, because no one cares how good or bad you are, but its encouraging to see others of all different ages and sizes all keeping up whether or not they got the routine down or not. This wasnt the one I was at, but looks similar... Ill try to get a pic or 2 once the photographer from the Zumbathon posts some... Maybe we'll play "where's Waldo" in them :)

I told Jenn and Laura I needed a "Zumba" outfit - which Z would laugh at me but I thought I could be better at it if I fit the part more. Isn't that always the case - anyway I just through some yoga's on, a tank, old sneaks (b/c im not a sneaker person, i have no good or new sneaks) and a hair bandana.

Here I am... Its a sunny day. Jacoby and I went off to Terrific Two Story Time at the library and then took out a ton of movies, books and cds for the week.

Long sleeve top - Gap

He loves to have "his" music in the car, which consists of Barney, Dora, Mickey, Pooh or any other kid music he picks out at the library for the week. Last week we were listening to Dora's Worldly adventure or something so we learned some new words in Russian, Chinese, Spanish, and even some from Ghana - not too bad, I was singing them all week long!

It gave me a great idea though, Camrn's been into Paris lately, probably due to Z instilling it in her, see her room has Paris all over - so fun!

So my idea was, I took out at the library a bunch of kids french word books and french CD. I decided to try and teach ourselves some basics and hopefully master it down the road (anyone ever use Rosetta Stone?). Once we master it probably not years from now - we will venture off to Paris and enjoy all it has to offer together! I already started with Camryn a bit since Christmas, but not as much as would have liked to so far. I remember, ummm the library must have stuff! The library actually has everything which Z has been making fun of me for utilizing it so much! Hey its Fantastic and Free! Z knows french as much as I know Spanish - High School and College classes, can read it, yet can't hold a conversation.

Anyone else have any wonderful speaking skills?

'nother rainy Tuesday

After a sunny and warmer weekend, we've now headed to April showers this week.

The wellies are sure getting their work out this season so far!

Yesterday I had to bring Jacoby to doctors, yet again, from his fever all weekend - from the above picture of them you wouldn't be able to tell he had one since him and Camryn were running around pretending to go to the beach soaking of the sunny spot in the front window in their bathing suits.

I was just going to run to the doctors and the fabric store, then pick up Jacoby's antibiotic for his minor ear infection, so I through a sweater dress over my leggings and baggy long sleeved grey t-shirt. By the time Z got home from work I was wearing comfy grey sweatpants, the long sleeve grey T and comfy socks. He made fun of me for wearing all grey but I completely didnt care as I was soooo comfy in my warm house starting to bake my homemade "Sporky" pizza.

with some pre-made pizza dough, pizza sauce, provolone, sausage, ricotta, and mozzarella! It was soooo good, but I may have added way too much sausage as I was picking it off when I was on my 2nd and 3rd pieces!

My Sporky was good but it didn't beat the Bertucci's Sporky which is my favorite pizza there, such a classic.

Today, its still raining, yet I decided to give my Hunter's a break for the day, as I am feeling super lazy in baggy jeans, another long sleeved cotton T and my comfy brown UGGS, if I didnt have to work this afternoon I'd probably just throw my grey outfit on again, just kidding, maybe I'd do black this time :) And the hat, because flat hair, once again... eek!

Weekend Wonderland

Here's a good thought on a beautiful weekend after a typical Nor'Easter' snow storm in April on Friday. The weekend has been beautiful though! Z has taken the kids out to play, the movies, the park... yet Jacoby has had a fever on and off, so I had to put my foot down on him attending the park this morning with Camryn :(

Here is where I'd love to be.... I have this picture hanging in a bathroom in our house, along with the above star and saying. That boardwalk to the beach picture reminds me of easier carefree days back in college of this beach we some of us would skip class to go to during the week when Spring had Sprung. Never took much for us to skip class, but unfortunately sick kids can't be skipped out on and responsibility is now in my life. It sure is tempting though, to fill a cooler of beers, some snacks, some towels and just go relax, play some beach football and dabble our toes in the cool water and be tempted to run in. Then take a nap, wake with a tiniest of burns on the cheeks and drive back to campus for yet another relaxing evening of what we didnt know at the time as being relaxing and carefree.

Soon enough right.... I envy those who live minutes from the beach, it is somewhere I dream to own a home along one day... ahhhhhhhh so lovely :)

Im trying to get back into a little shape for beach weather, as I mentioned Zumba the other night. It went fantastic here, and then went to Jenn's for Zumba in her house Saturday morning while I brought Cam over to play with her daughter. They just loved laughing and pointing at us as we danced around but I've been feeling great and hope to keep it up this week too!

Here's my bag going into retirement, as soon as decide on whether or not the Spring bag I made for myself is worthy enough of carrying around everywhere all season long. This one was my baby, the bag everyone wanted, which I was completely surprised about, and now that it is in shambles people still swoon over it when I am out and about. I guess its just because its not your typical Coach or Vera Bradley bag you see everyone carrying around in this area of the US.

Hope Y'all had a great weekend, mine will be topped off with a Family BBQ dinner catered by Z tonight. His folks, mine, and my sister's Fam will be over to tear the house apart and eat some homemade burgers and pasta salad, and probably a few beers :)

I did mention yesterday on WIWW that Jacoby looked much cuter on Tuesday because we were out and about in the morning because Tuesday's I usually work.

Ok moving on... So I decided over at my Fab 5 blog with my friends to entice them to try to spring clean their dressing styles after the winter rut... Yesterday after WIWW I was not thrilled how I looked in pictures so figured to get more incentive to try to look nice and in style on a daily basis instead of MOMMY WEAR!

Here's me thinking of how I am going to fit some fabulous ladies in my living room to do some Zumba tonight...

My friend decided to become a Zumba instructor on top of being a full time pediatric nurse and raising to little girls - she's nuts like me I guess :)

Tonight she's going to try some routines out on us so we can critique her... I am pretty excited since I haven't done Zumba in 2 years... (if you've followed in the past Z broke his arm one winter, which Kaboshed my Zumba classes because he needed my assistance with the kids at night - and then never got around to getting back to it)

Ill report back on how it goes...

Lastly, here's my latest Spring Bag... Its not ready for sales yet though, because I need to tweek some of the structure, size and sewing procedures for it.... but it seems to be like so far over on Facebook.

What I Wore Wedsnesday

I started my morning off in PJ pants, a warm up jacket, sneakers and a cap to bring Camryn to school. Then I came across all these ladies getting dressed this weds! So I have changed, although I am not satisfied with the look, but I through it together in seconds to get out of my PJ's! Jacoby decided to join me and brush his teeth in the mirror thats was already mangled by the kids prior admiration of them selves up close and personal to the mirror.... (Think Jacoby could be changed as well as he's in his comfy house clothes... he looked much cuter yesterday!)

This is all I will be doing today though, besides running to the library to drop off some books and to the Parks and Rec's office to sign the kids up for the city Easter Egg Hunt (Cant wait!!)

So sitting in front of the sewing machine... in my poor dining room I've taken over since my basement work area was too cold through the winter...

Busy Busy Purse Making

I've been swamped with making purses lately. Lots and lots of spring handbags going out around town, take a look. . .

I had a "purse party" about a month ago and these are some of the products. The purse party involved a huge get together of ladies with all my fabric, bag examples, so appetizers, wine and chatting that made for a huge success. My next one is lined up for the end of April for some ladies who didnt make it to the premier purse party event. It was so fun to see all the different styles and patterns each lady liked and wanted. And it was pretty funny to see some scour over the fabrics for a few hours and still be uncertain what they wanted and then the few that came in, picked them out in 10 minutes and then sat around mingling the rest of the time.

I just finally cut mine out last night to sew up because mine from the fall is definitely in need of retirement. I ran that thing around everywhere, loved it, and now its time to love another one!

Its going to be a new style and Im so excited to get it done because Im making Camryn a matching mini version of mine. I always make mine, my moms or my sisters first if its a new style to work out all the kinks. Stay tuned for the new bag style!

St Patty's Din

Last night was our St Patty's dinner at the in laws. We did it early so Gamma could give the grandkids their "green" presents prior to Thursday so they'd be able to sport their new green tops.

I first got the kids started on a Leprechaun mask project before dinner...

As you can see, Jacoby tends to get more marker on his face than elsewhere...

Im not quite sure why each of them ended up with a mostly purple leprechaun, I totally tried to get them to use other colors!

Then it was time to whip up our signature sandwiches (all besides me and the kids had cornbeef and sauerkraut, ewww)

As for the kids and I, soup, grilled cheeses and for me .... Grilled Ham and Swiss on Rye with Russian Dressing... mmmm (not quite sure how Irish that is though)

Then to top it off we had Irish Sprinkle cookies with cute little flags in them ala Gamma :)

And the whole time I had the joy of having this Irish guy staring at me straight... We all got our green tops, as you can see Camryn already put hers on, and the rest will where ours tomorrow. Funny thing is - I am not even Irish!!! I guess my kids are tho :)

The Loop

Today so far has thrown me for a loop and its only 9 am. I truly thought I'd have Camryn in school by 8:30, my errands ran, and me and Jacoby would be at Story time for the terrific 2's by 10:30 for our usual Weds morning date.

Jacoby, found the camera and pictured himself unknowingly the other day lol

Whats going on?... Well Im on the computer eating frosted flakes out of the box and having my morning coffee, Cam is playing with paper dolls, and Jacoby is bugging her trying to play with her paper dolls. I was on schedule for once until Jacoby thru me for a loop and I am still unsure what to make of it. He was running around like an animal after he was dressed and I started to go round them up to head out the door and I walk in my room to see Camryn laying in my bed watching TV, and Jacoby standing on a step stool on the side of my bed with a puddle all around him. At first I was quite confused, like how in the world did he pee all over the floor but still have his clothes on and dry? Well I soon came to realize as he proceeded to projectile vomit all over my bedroom floor (thankfully just the floor) it was not pee, just some throwing up disaster I've never seen him do before. Jacoby then was put in the shower I had to clean the floors in my room to the bathroom and obviously did not get Camryn to school. I dont think he's sick, but no idea where the vomit came from so Im scared to take him out in case it happens again. Anyway Cam is now waiting for Boppy (my dad) to come pick her up to drop her off at school, late once again. Her teachers must think I am such a flake not being able to ever get her daughter to school on time. (Yesterday we got there on time tho! Cam wanted to make sure she'd see what the leprechauns did to her class, plus she was the special helper for the day which includes show and tell - the one day she ops to try to be helpful in the morning to be on time for school)

The other day after my last post, I must of had a mini meltdown. Thursday night me , Z and his mom took Cam to Riverdance

(Camryn loves Irish step dancing and my MIL loves Ireland, so we got tickets for the show for them for Xmas).

Anyway Camryn ended up being up very late, as did Jacoby because my FIL said Jacoby its time for bed, and Jacoby responded I dont want to go to bed, so FIL said ok what do you want to watch... Friday morning comes along and no one wants to get out of bed, so I let them sleep. In the mean time I get a phone call from my Dad saying can you watch Amber this morning,

my sister's 3 yr old daughter. I obviously said yes because thats what I do. I then asked and hoped that either my Dad or my sister would have offered or at least made a more helpful effort to drop Camryn off at school, because she certainly did not have to miss school but she DID! Already upset by this Amber comes strollin' in the house with her suitcase full of dress up clothes, and a reusable grocery bag full of other toys, and just spills them out in front of the front door she just walked in, runs up stairs and leaves her mess behind. I always say my sister's kids are total destroyers, as Im sure mine are at her house too but the whole scenerio just didnt sit well with me... so to go along with my old compaints, what did I do to deal with the siuation, I WHIP OUT THE VACUUM! WHy couldn't I just have jumped in with the kids mess and play or start a craft time, or something other than clean! I was so mad at myself but couldn't help it :(

The Weekend got better though, as I dropped sewing, cleaning, and what not to nap with the kids, shop with the kids and etc. Which was soooo nice! At the same time shopping a bit stressful, but so fun to take Camryn girl shopping trying on clothes with her saying mommy I dont like that one on you but I like the purple one, then she tries on clothes for herself and adores them and then is like mmm mommy you can put this one back I dont need it :)

Here's one of my more professional photos, as I am no photographer as you could tell in most of my pics, which leads me off to something else I had plans to do while "having more time", get one of those really nice cameras and learn to use it. I haven 't even bought the camera yet. My best friends for my 30th this year all pitched in for a gift card for me to go out and get myself one, the gift card is burning a hole in my purse as I type :)
(in the mean time, my sister gets the camera for christmas from her husband - what a slap in the face, but hey Ive probably played with it more since she's gotten it!)
I keep telling myself, soon soon soon, I will jump in and catch up, but Im totally fooling myself.

I know I can't FOREVER forego the laundry monster, the dust bunnies on the floor, the never ending toy clean up battle, my fetish to keep crumbs off the counter (nevermind the floor), the 30 miscellaneous piles of nothing stacked up around the house as if its to help the house look neat, man I can barely roll out of bed without instantly making "my side" of the bed while Z is still sleeping. YES having kids has given me OCD, I wont lie - I need medicine to keep me at a normal level to let go of the everyday needs of a household nevermind children because I dont have time for Yoga or meditation and if I did, I'd totally rather Zumba or Kick Boxing!
I once got on a steady Zumba roll, going a few times a week, it was fun, I loved it - Z decideds to come home one day a month later and break his arm on black ice in the driveway - Have not been to Zumba since and that was over 2 years ago lol!

With all this said I am off to bed :) ...

Can you say Reconnect?

Today I must of felt some nostalgia or longing for something, not sure what it was though. I didn't realize right away but definitely figuring that must have happened.

Me and the kids soon after my final corporate days :)

I realized that since I quit my full time job, I have lost all time, and seem to have accomplished little in the mean time.

Quitting was amazing! I was excited, scared and completely beside myself, while Zack started losing his hair :P

I thought Id get to big stuff, small stuff, and new stuff! Like play with the kids more, like crafts, games and what not, even more outtings (hasnt really happened). I hoped to finish filling out the kids babies books, organizing the thousands of pictures we have, reorganize tons of different corners of our home, take up some type of exercise routine maybe like a mommy and me something with Jacoby while Cam went to school. I hoped to get my business in gear, make tons of more products, build my website, seek out other venues etc.

All I can say my life has come to that of the typical stay at home mommy. Im not complaining! haha. Just wish I've made more of it over the past 7-8 months I've been out of the corporate world...

To be continued... Sorry dinner is calling and the kids, inlaws and hubby won't take no for an answer, Can I just say I have so much littler time for ME (seriously not complaining!!!!)

So now I work part time, do tons of sewing on the side and get to stay at home with my incredibly amazing and crazy children. What more can I ask for right now!?

A break :)

I had plans to go away with the college girls for the weekend to celebrate our 30th's and what happens...

I catch the flu/bug thing my kids had last week, so I think I may have to miss out. We planned it months ago, we were going to head up to Portsmouth, may Spa it and take it easy with just the girls, and instead I dropped Camryn off at school and scooted Jacoby over to play with my cousins little ones while I relax and nap and hope to feel better.

I've totally fell off the blog list world, but I've finally started to balancing again, and loved reading and staying in touch with some of those incredible blogs and ladies out there! So I am back and will be putting up some good sewing projects, because I've had my hands full with them!

Who watches the Bachelor(ette)????

I’ve been into them on and off since my college days. I was first introduced to the show when Aaron Buerge was the Bachelor in 2002. Remember him, he picked Helene, very sweet girl, but I did love Southern belle Brooke. We used to be devoted to the show and especially when Andrew Firestone was the man, a group of us girls would get together each week with munchies and gush and bash the show. Also, which was big, there a girl from our school on the bachelor that season which made it even more saucy, but she didn’t get much air time :(

Many seasons in between I didn’t get too enthralled in once I started working full time, had kids and so on, but got back into it when DeAnna Pappas was on (i was a Jesse fan). I am not sure why I got into it again, but I did!

I can tell you why I am into the Bachelorette this season with Ali though….

I know one of the bachelors :) First off though, we in Massachusetts thought it was pretty cool when Ali was announced as the next Bachelorette after her drama with Jake and Vienna. It was a local news big story, I guess not too much fame comes from our parts so we rely on reality stars :) So months go by and my hubby is talking to one of his old roommates who also stood up in our wedding and said he’s forgot to mention that his brother is on the bachelorette this season whom hubs lived with one year as well. Naturally we get all giddy and psyched up for the airing of the show which finally started a few weeks ago. (if you want gossip, go to www.realitysteve.com, he’s got all the scoop, and I hate being the spoiler even though we’ve been trying to pry info out them for weeks now).

We now got a bunch of family and friends into it, have people over like every Monday night to watch. (Although my friend Jill signed me up for a "cake decorating" class for Mondays, thank goodness for DVR! I can't even bake!)

Mine is Andrew Firestone and Matt Grant, I was a fan of DeAnna’s reign as well.

Whats your take on this season? The weatherman needs to go ASAP or I may start writing hate mail! (I guess you know one bachelor that its not!) Ugh can't stand him, such a loser!

M.I.A (AkA, missing in action)

Lately I’ve been M.I.A, I know(not this M.I.A :), but wasnt that one crazy talk about outfit that night, my goodness). And I do have a ton of excuses up my sleeve, but do you really want to hear them????

(if so I will be happy to elaborate, but I just don’t want to bore you with the same Riddick of every mom’s lifestyle these days, because we all know how easy it is to let time pass you by when you have kids)

I have a few things I’d love to blog about, whether I get to them all today or not I will separate them into different posts so I don’t try to moosh everything into together as usual.

A few post subjects on the way:

- The Bachelorette (Yes, I know one of the infamous Bachelors this season, guess which one!)

- A Pattern Review (which I hope to start to do regularly). I love trying to new sewing patterns and think its very helpful to see reviews on them and how others perceived the directions and what not of it.

- New things going on with the “Local Collection”, future boutique business ideas.

- And I am sure you’ll here a little about the fam in between everything.

I hope I didn’t scare everyone off with my M.I.A status!

Need more MoTiVaTiOn!

Its a bright and sunny Monday today in Mass! Super nice. Makes me miss Florida already. Again, as usual, when I get out of my routine of work/sewing/cleaning/etc, its takes a while to get back into the groove of things, I am hoping to bring the new sewing machine back out tonight! I ended up picking out the the JANOME 3160 (which I think I've already busted the bobbin on trying to whip out my mom's new beach bag for mother's day to have ready for our cruise last week), supposively I got a good deal on it too :)

I am losing a sense of creativitly but thought I wanted to try to make camryn a Jasmine from Alladin inspired dress eventually. You just can't seem to find those, not even in Disney! (only the genie looking outfits, which she has because jasmine is her favorite princess). I thought making a play dress would be a fun challenge, when I gain a little more time. Camryn has an ornament with her in this dress as pictured on whatever this maybe, its the only thing i could find googled haha, but I know a dress should exist!

In the mean time I still have a bunch of projects to catch up on! i have a bunch of family and friends waiting for some lovely items I promised them. A Kimono here, a tutu there, a purse here, and dress there, ughhhhhh, i really need motivation, so help me hehe!!!!!

Back to Reality

Hi I'm back ! (again) Just came back from a lovely Disney cruise with Camryn, my mom and niece Grace. I'll share pictures from that down the road when their ready, we just got back last night and Im still exhausted. Why does vaca do that????

These pictures here are of my other niece Amber wearing on the new dresses I made. It's in the Local Collection now and just was able to get some more of that Free Spirit fabric (tan w/ white flowers), thankfully, because I got some inquiries to have some made. I just fell in love with the fabric, it looks so sweet and its super soft too.

Unfortunately Amber stayed home for this trip! We took the two older girls who had a blast.

It's been a few weeks so I thought I'd take part in Friday Confessionals!
1. I am ashamed the girls were spoiled rotten on the cruise.
2. I missed my Jacoby beyond belief and pretty much cried when I saw him last night.
3. My poor daughter clogged the cruise ship toilet!
4. I really didnt relax too much as planned while away
5. Although sad vaca is over, my own comfy bed made me sleep like an angel last night
6. I can't wait to get out of work today and go squeeze my cobeman again!!!!

In Memory of Layla Grace and Others alike....

I learned today that in honor of Layla Grace who passed recently, an organization was created called Layla Grace Children’s Cancer Research Foundation. Her story is heartbreaking, but her family is amazing.
Today I also came across a little girl named Kate, which you can find the link in my side bar. These stories truly touch my heart and life, and I only wish I could fix every little kids problems, fears, and disease. Because I am limited, I can only share and hope for others to follow, share and pray as well for these incredibly brave young ones who unfortunately have to endure such hardships so young.

I am thankful everyday for the health of my kids, so I will add this to my Friday confessionals,

Tah Dah!!! The Local Collection in Faneuil Hall finally opened and here are some opening night photos. It was Friday night - and I took the rest of the weekend off from sewing and what not to take in all the fun and sun with my family for all my hard work :)

The Hubs also came to show his support :)

What Sewing Machine do you use???

I have a question to ask any sewing readers out there.

What type/brand sewing machine do you use??

I’ve been hunting and researching to find the best one. Does anyone have any recommendations?

So far I’ve checked out the Husqvarna Emerald Viking 183. I really liked it – its definitely a huge step up from my older Singer, but I’ve read so many mixed reviews online I’d distraught on what to do.

I contacted a Janome dealer and figured I’d check out those ones. I want a computerized model, but don’t need any embroidering.

I’ve read some good reviews on the Project Runway model from Brother which is less $$.

Help me out, plllleeeeeeeaaasssseeee. :)

Fancy Nancy meets Carrie Bradshaw

Yesterday Laura and I got some fantastic shots of the kids modeling for us! Mostly I should say my niece Gracie. She was a natural! Camryn was not into it much until later because she had to go “potty” and there was no where to go so she stood around miserable for a bit crossing her legs until my mom who tagged along for the day took her to pee outside near the car, REAL CLASSY, I know!!!!

Here are just a few of the natural Diva, Laura has a ton Im not going to be able to choose from for my LookBook, but I can’t wait to go through them and play around with them. Gracie’s Mommy, my sister, is away in Mexico this week so said she was in tears when I sent her these pics of her Gracie to look at and now can’t wait to get home to print and frame a bunch of them for the house. (I sooooo wish Camryn was playing along better, but I guess she was having an off day) We plan to do another photo shoot down in the near future again.

Man, did they put on a show for the crowds in NOHO yesterday, and we loved every second of it as we almost peed our pants trying to keep straight faces and played along.

All things YELLOW

This is going to be a random post, but I've decided I'm in love with YELLOW this Season! If I had the time and energy I'd totally revamp one of the rooms in my house to be blues, whites and yellows, yellow being the accent color for accessories and what not. I've seen so many fun yellow items and Laura from Life on Northwood recent find has made me jealous with envy on looking for stray "junk" found off the side of the road (all of which I'd love to paint YELLOW!). Unfortunately my hubby is not a fan of yellow, but I got him to paint my laundry room a pale yellow, which I yet been able to finish decorating.

First, I want a pair of YELLOW rain boots. I've been lusting and dying for a pair for a pair of these Celine's ($400+),

but would settle for the Hunters ($100+) ")

Or there's this pair for just $25 bucks! but I really want the other ones : P .

Second, I'd love a new yellow bag for the Summer... (I had one last year but its defintely worn out, I tend to wear my bags down to the ground when I get a new one)

Friday, my 1st Post of the week!

Hey all its Friday and Thanks goodness because I drove to work this morning wondering if I was going to make it without falling asleep at the wheel, so I gave Laura a ring to keep me up. She just started her own blog (finally), she’s super crafty as well and is fantastic with home projects too, stop by and give her a “holla” some time :)

One item today I was psyched to see was over at Project Mommyhood, ummm their going to giveway a pair of Elevens! I love that brand, Jacoby’s first shoes were a pair of blue See Kai Run’s. This brand is fantastic for their feet, so comfy, bendy and what other than super cute!

I have a few confessions too:

1. I’ve been so busy sewing I haven’t had much time to think about a blog post this week :(

2. I don’t think I am going to have all that I want accomplished for the store opening on the 30th (will have enough, just not as much as I planned :( )

3. Im beyond tired today that Im thinking of leaving work early

4. Jacoby has completely kicked my butt this week between his doctor visits, tantrums, non-sleeping bit, not-eating bit, and thoroughly pushing my buttons! He must know I’ll always love him anyway.

5. He’s getting a hair cut today and Im scared their going to cut too much from his mom and I will be sad, pout, pout.

6. I really need a hair appointment, but probably won’t make one for another 2 months, typical.

7. Oh yes, and I ♥ D.D’s new Cheddar Bagel Twists!

Yesterday I had the day off to attend Camryn’s Spring concert at preschool and it was so dang cute! I love to see her actually participating and not standing there with a pout on her face in embarrassment. I was video taping and almost broke down in tears I was so happy to see her enjoying it with her classmates. We then took her, Jacoby and my niece Grace out for icecream because it was beauuuttiful out yesterday. I’d love to post the video of the class singing, but im not too sure all parents would a appreciate that if they new… Im not having a waiver go around for them to sign either, nice thinking!

Ultimate Blog Party Time

Hey there!!!!!
Just for a little info: I started My Heaven not too long ago in conjuction with the forth going of my Etsy shop, HollieK’s. At the time and still recently I’m a constantly working on my Etsy shop and other local shops to sell “sassy & lovely” children’s apparel and accessories.

Through the beginning of my blog posting I’ve found so many other mom’s alike, many of which inspire me and I love to learn from. Each one I’ve come across has motivated me in some way to continue doing what I’m doing to make this all work. I mostly looking forward to the hopes of being a SAHM soon and be able to do what I love on the side. My family comes first, so Im trying to make the venue much easier :)

I have 2 kids, Camryn 4, and Jacoby will be 2 in August already. My husband an I were high school sweethearts so have been apart of each others lives and families for about 15 years now and I am just 29 (which in less than a year I’ll be sobbing over the dreaded 3-0). We also grew up in the same neighborhood, since elementary school, funny how things work out.

Im so excited to be joining in on this years Ultimate Blog party, because as already stated, so many I’ve met have already inspired me so much, I will be excited to meet many others ") Here are a few things you'll find in my shop:

It's Friday - Lots of stuff

Wow there’s a lot to do this Friday in the bloggy blog community….

First I have some confessions for Friday Confessionals with Glamazon Mormon Mom:

1. I almost had a mental breakdown yesterday, and a good cry was what the doctor order I guess (I feel better today, the thing about being a woman I guess right?)

2. if someone offered me a tranquilizer of some sort yesterday I would’ve taken them up on the offer, shhh.

3. My hubby wants to get my son a haircut and I am soooo against it because I love playing with his awesome blonde hair

4. I ate a salad for lunch but was still hungry so had a peanut butter sandwich too

5. Last night I instilled in my brain I was going to call out of work and then my 18 month old son was super moody and needy this morning so figured we’ll drop him off with my mom and just head to work instead. (I truly am a good mom though!)

6. I now smell like peanut butter and am worried its draping on my face somewhere!

7. I am not a cuddler and enjoy my “own” space in bed

8. My hubby hates it and always tries to crowd me and wrap his legs and arms around me

9. I think I have an over heating issue problem at night (some may say its hyper thyroid, but I have yet to be diagnosed, plus I cant sit still and can not gain weight, but is that a problem)

10. I need a vacation (and snuck one in with my mom, niece and daughter in May, then told my hubby about it, woops)

Wow I now sound like a horrible wife today… I really am not, I love and adore the hubby, he’s wonderful, sweet, loving, helping, usually understanding, and handsome :)

Speaking of hubby, here’s a pic of him scooping Jacoby up to bring inside after he kept having to stop him from trying to jump in our pool off the deck last night that still has the winter cover on it and practically swamp water in it.

Also, Camryn decided it would be cool to go outside and watch the sunset after her bath and they had their "kichies" on, and she’s trying to take a picture of me at the same time fun huh, and just to show you how crazy my boy is, he’s was trying to climb over the railing on the deck. Boy do we need to keep our eyes on him now, HE’s NUTS!

Newest Lil Dressy, Don't forget the Giveaway

Last night I was finally able to whip up this sweet little number called the "Ella" Dressy, because its my first of this kind and was made for a little girl named Ella. I take pride in naming some pieces after the sweet kids they were created for :)

I ended up taking a tank top of my daughters as a pattern and just cut this material longer for a dress style, then added some ruffles that I learned how to do recently and the straps I learned to do this style from the one hour dress tutorial from, "From an Igloo" whom is actually featuring all those dresses people made from the tutorial, yes mine is there :)

These straps though I decided to do a criss cross back.

What do you think???!!! I was very pleased as it didnt come from any special pattern.

Just a rant

Getting ready for another crazy holiday weekend. Anyone else traveling too and fro to make sure your kids are daunted off to every bit of you families?? I sometimes find holidays to be quite stressful for many of these reasons. I just feel bad I can't accommodate everyone to see my darling beautiful kids!!!! :)

I need to appologize for my absence lately on here. I usually have things to post all the time, new creations and what not. I've been hard at work creating so eventually I'll have a ton of cute things to show you what I've been up to. I just haven't had a chance to photograph these things. I'll will be setting up a special post in the next few weeks of all the wonderful things I will be selling in at the Local Collection in Faneuil Hall come May.

BTW - Here's a few for Friday Confessional, sooo fun! check it out :)

I dont feel bad giving TMI because I noticed many others have and I dont mind, so...

1. I purchased way too many concert tickets for this summer than I can probably fit in or afford

2. I "also" do not wear a bra unless I have something you could see through, for the most part. Having kids took my boobs away!

3. I usually only make time to brush and floss once a day, but tell the dentist I do it twice.

4. I hate working for "corporate america," my husband does not want to believe me but Im ready to quit any day now

5. I can't go into a fabric store (or almost any type of store) and spend less than $35, so I try to go to any stores as little as possible.

6. I have an obsessive cleaning "disorder." If i see a dust bunny, its gone in seconds. If i spot a crumb on the counter, its gone in seconds (yet my house is still a disaster!)

Hey its Monday! Another crazy week underway, right??!!

I completely enjoyed hearing what many of you had to say about relocating! Many of you are completely satisfied where you are and other have aspirations of possible places to live which is great. I figured today I’d to share with you my destinations to move to, and please feel free to yay or neh on them.

There are so many places I’d love to seek out to live in but here’s a few that would be cost effective.

- the Raleigh/Durham area of NC

- Austin, TX area

f money wasn’t a factor I’d probably choose an incredible southern west coast shoreline city. I would love to look out my window every morning to see the ocean and tons of sailboats in port gearing up for a day sailing and lounging.

But I’m a total East Coast girl through and through (which is why NC is so enticing)! There’s a scene like that Im sure along the outerbanks! See I love cities, but I love the coast, and I love good ol’ country fun and music so where would I go lol….

Also on the line up I found through “J” ‘s fun blog of Boobies, Babies, and a Blog, is a round of fun Monday questions to help get to know many of you better. The where would you live was a fun way to hear from many of you, and these sounded like some fun questions to read about! (I unfortunately am at work this lovely rainy day and have the stinkin’ restrictions preventing my “McLinky” ability.) Zura from “Sew Retro Chic” She’s lives in Malaysia so is the least likely I’d run into anywhere, but makes and shares “sew” many incredible items she makes for her daughters and such, and sounds like a truly genuine woman.

3 - Why are you always concerned with losing that "extra 10 pounds" when chances are your husband/boyfriend/friends tell you that you look just fine the way you are? I’m not concerned with losing and extra lbs. People are always telling me to put some lbs. on but with my crazy on the go life style, That’s the one thing I don’t worry about!

4 - What's the one thing you wish guys could understand about you? This will be blunt – Its not that I don’t like s-e-x, its just that I don’t have time for it!

5 - Tattoos. How many do you have and how many are visible when you wear your "everyday" clothes? One that’s not visible. The standard chic lower back tat. When I am laying down sometimes my husband tells my kids it’s a sticker & they try to scratch it off. Nice huh!

6 - What was the best year of your life and why? That’s a tough one – I’d have to say my first year of college. I loved my new independence being on my own and no responsibilities. I ate it all up!!!!!

7 - Name three things you would do if you were a man for one day. Does that mean my husband would a be woman for a day??!!

Where would you live?

To me this is a lot of food for thought lately. Zack and I have always loved the idea of relocating. We've said if we were single and/or had no kids yet we would totally have moved from the location we are in now.

Have you ever thought of moving? Our places of where we'd move to have changed over the years since we've have kids also. We went from thinking maybe a west coast party city to more suburban family orientated towns.

Do you have any "practical" special location in mind you'd love to move to? I was hoping for some ideas and input. Maybe you love where your from too! Tell me why :)

Sometimes I love where Im from and sometimes I just think it would be nice to move and see what other locations have to offer. Really the only thing holding us back from moving is our family near by!

I have a few places in mind and will share those eventually, I just want to hear what some of you have to say first.

Playing Catch up

I have been completely out of the loop this week. It’s been absolutely nutty between work, finding time for the family and sewing for the store opening in a little over a month in Boston. I actually went down to Faneuil Hall yesterday to check out the store and how my stuff will be displayed in there. Its sooooo exciting. I have child dress forms I will be able to use which I am most excited about. And they are in a great eye catching position of the store as well.

Today for a fun Friday I wanted to share some pictures of Cam hamming it up for me the other day. She isn’t always willing for a photo shoot so I grab what I can. The one of her standing on our front steps made me realize she’s growing up and she looks so “old” "(

I have to show the Cobeman too, because he was excited to be sporting his spiderman tee!

I couldn't help myself! I finished Camryn's Easter dress tonight and had to show it off. Well its almost done. I just need to complete the sash, make her matching headband, and I was thinking of adding a flower or something to the dress. (Do you think it will be too much????) I have an obsession with adding fabric flowers to everthing the past few weeks! :)

Oh Yes, and now lets hope it fits ;)

This totally beats the masacre I did the xmas dress, so Zack will now have to have complete faith in me with my crazy ideas.

Easter Dress Update, inspired?

Its Get inspired Day at Sew Dang Cute, and here's what I've been working on this week..... (Purse was inspired actually by the tutorial from "From an Igloo," and my niece obviously for the fabrics :) )

Happy Friday All! I've been terribly busy with Zack gone to Upstate NY again this week so Im being single mommy all week and trying to get my projects in gear for 2 stores now and blablabla....

So here is my update. I finally started Camryn's Easter dress. Its only the top half but it was the more difficult half. Hoping I'll have the bottom finished tonight after the kids head off to bed. What a Friday night for me huh! Oh how I can't even fathom going out on Friday's like I use to 5 years ago! Her dress is going to have a matching flower for her hair too, with the fabric I found for the lining, can't wait, its going to be so cute all put together :)
Here is the funky bag my niece requested. Leopard and Cupcakes! I think it actually looks kind of cute. I also added a matching flower to it as well which I forgot to photograph.

Weekend Projects

Mornin'!
All weekend I was plugging away at my sewing machine and craft corner. As I mentioned in a few posts, I was asked to be apart of the Local Collection store opening next month which is opening in Fanueil Hall in Boston. I am driving myself mad considering I still work a full time day job and am a full time mom and wife! What am I thinking taking on another "gig" like this, but I am soooo excited! I am certainly hoping to make the best out of this and know if I didn't follow through with this new retail store that I'd kick myself in the butt no matter what. So I am taking it on and have come to the realization I am going to be beyond busy, in which I had to advise the hubby I am fully committed :)

Beyond that, I played with a few tutorials from Christine at "From an Igloo." She has had so many cute things on her blog that I just had to try. They seemed simple enough to give a whirl at.

One was this "Scrappy Clutch." Last weekend I took my daughter (age 4) and niece (age 6) to the fabric store and let them pick out their own fabric and I would make them a little purse. The tutorial is for a "clutch," but I turned it into a little girls purse for them, just made a longer strap instead of the smaller one sided strap you'll find in the tutorial. The fabric combo's they were picking out were hilarious, I had to put my foot down a few times, but this is what my Cammi came up with which turned out cute and very "Cam."
My niece, Grace's, is going to be interesting when finished. Just think cupcakes and leopord print! I took the excess from those and compiled one for my 2 yr old niece Amber as well so she doesnt feel left out. So hers will be an interesting combo too :)

Overall this tutorial was great and made for a cute simple weekend project for myself.

Also, another one of her tutorials is the "One Hour Sundress" It did take me a bit longer than an hour, but I had many interuptions :) After I had Camryn try on her new sundress she loved it and I only needed to adjust the straps. I guess I made them too long. And I also only had 1/4" inch elastic available so made due on that too. I added a flower for an extra touch :)

~ On another note I started Camryn's Easter Dress too, I also found a great corresponding fabric to the Lindy Leaf I picked from the THIS POST HERE. Its a Yellow swiss dot material that matches perfectly!

Tomorrow is my "work from home" day and I am already getting anxious thinking of how Im going to get work done and not clean my house!

A few posts back I said I would add a blog entailing my clutterful home and insane obsession for baskets. These are literally only minor pictures as to the amount of baskets you can find throughout my home. For some reason, I have this notion that hmmmm if i can't find a place to put something it ends up in a random basket, then every few months I go on a rampage of emptying these baskets so they have more meaning as to what they should have in them.

Its funny because Zack will say "where are the plastic plug hider things" and then will ask "where are the take out menus" and Ill direct him to the same basket. I really need to go into basket rehab. It is not the answer to my clutter, its just the junk we collect on a daily basis is incredible and God forbid I toss one of Camryn's random pieces of art work. Usually those things Zack asks for can be found in one of these lovely baskets. One is usually for art supplies, mail supplies, diapers, birthday stuff, pictures. Within a months time these baskets are overflowingNow this one is fun! Our entry way from the garage.... If it was winter year round I think I'd have this area boarded up! Shoes, scarves, mittens, hats, toys, more diapers. This area astonishes me too of what gets collected. And if your wondering whats on the top top there, those are gift bags, easter baskets of all sorts. You need one for a special event, I've got one!
Ok so this one kills me too. I call this the "how does it grow" basket. I empty the toys from this one constantly and it always seems to be overflowing. And those other little ones are for DVDs and other TV whatnots.
Ughhh, the kitchen. Ok so my basket in the kitchen has no rhyme or reason. I bought a new storage case to throw mail in everyday and that just overflowed, so it just went everywhere else. Oh that is my morning best friend, the Keurig, if it wasn't for him, I'd be spending $1000 a year alone just on coffee.

2 baskets here: the dish rack basket, yes we have a dishwasher, but this seems to be full constantly too. and the other basket stores bottles, bibs, and a ton of odds and ends!

Do you have a basket crazy obsession, please share and make me feel better!!!!???

Remember this is only 3 rooms of my home, and every room has more than one basket in it even the kids rooms! And when I go to the store I always find myself impelled to buy another basket!

I wasn't expecting this, but I am completely having a very sentimental day. These days just creep up on me sometimes, but for some reason I assuming its stemming from the news of Layla Grace yesterday. Every song I've been hearing this morning has been bringing tears to my eyes, which I am also laughing about, because its just one of those days. Some of the songs that have choked me up are Smile by Uncle Cracker (no idea why!), Grown Men Don't Cry by, When the stars go blue, Live like you were dying all by Tim McGraw, Guess Im having a thing for that guy today :) (I have a soft spot for guys in cowboy hats that can play the guitar!, yes Zack knows haha) Our wedding song was It's your Love by T.M. as well.

Last night I invited everyone over for dinner (my parents, my sister's family, and my aunt, whom lost her husband a few weeks ago to cancer, who brought her grandkids over too). It was chaotic, as it usually is with six kids running around crazy while we're trying to prepare and eat dinner, but I just felt completely lucky and blessed for the family I have yesterday. We are very close and always there for eachother, just how family should be. So... Zack got a call a work from me yesterday saying when you stop home for lunch, take out more chicken, everyone's coming over :) (he didn't mind in the least) So what does he do, he sends out an email to everyone giving everyone 3 options for dinner in a menu format (how much do I love him :)):

1. Chicken cooked in a Lemon and Pinot Grigio sauce, garnished with
parsley and Rice

2. Chicken Madeira with baby portobella mushrooms and farfalle pasta

3. BBQ Chicken on the grill with Sweet Baby Rays, steamed corn on the
cob,and rice

All 3 meals to be served with a side Caesar salad

We ended up BBQing because its been a fantastic week weather wise in the Northeast!

Now Some updates:

I got the fabric in the mail two days ago so I plan to start her dress finally this weekend and I will try to document the process for a possible tutorial :) My mom asked me last night, "when are you going to find the time to make it." The thought crossed my mind, but its high up on my laundry list.

I was in contact again with the Local Collection, which I first mentioned HERE. The application is complete, and now Im waiting to see if I will be able to sell my merchandise there or what! The store is suppose to open in Fanuel Hall (Boston) in April. I am still keeping my fingers crossed that this going to be an open door in my "venture."

Speaking of my "venture," (which I began ranting about here) I am completely enthralling my energy towards it right now. I told Zack the other night, "you know when you were younger and had no idea what you wanted to do with your life, well I finally realized what I want to do." I still have a lot of work, but extreme motivation to make it happen.

Layla Grace, the Angel

I had something else on my mind today until a few posts starting popping up about precious Layla Grace.

I've heard she's now dancing with the Angels. My heart and prayers are going out to the Marsh family today, as hearing her battle had come to end this morning has completely washed all other thoughts out of my head. I am truely speechless to know the loss they are suffering and could never imagine.

The Case of the Missing Tutu

Today I wanted to share my newest Tutu. I thought it came out adorable. I tend to sew them more often than the tie version because they are easy to keep up. The tie version tutus get very messy and you need to comb them through them after wearing a lot depending on the crazy girl wearing it :)

The tie version though come out so cute and you have so many color options and other details to add to them. They tend to be puffier too depending on the "stiffness" of the tulle, but today I am displaying the Pink Kaylee Starlett Tutu

The original was made for my cousin's 3 year old girl named Kaylee whom loves to play dress up I hear. I wanted to do something more so I added these dainty little shiny stars I found at Jo Ann fabrics awhile back and added to my embellishments collection. I finally put them to use and still have plenty more to embellish with. Im hoping to see some cute pictures of her in it. I love seeing stuff in actual use! Makes it all worth it.

Funny thing is that I originally made a tutu for Kaylee that was pink with white felt hearts sewed through out it. I had Zack drop the tutu off at my parents one morning when he dropped off the kids because they were going to see my aunt to give the tutu to her grandaughter, Kaylee. Later that day I ask my dad about the "purple bag." I get "What purple bag?." So it was a mystery for a few days what happened to the "purple bag."

A few days later I was at home and asked to watch my niece Amber. Her daddy drops her off and she comes prancing in my front door with jeans, a sweater and the PINK TUTU with WHITE FELT HEARTS! it was hysterical, and my BIL Steve is like "what, dont look at me, I know nothing." Apparently, Zack dropped the bag off with NO explanation, My mom found it and thought it was for Amber to bring to daycare, so she dropped her off at daycare with it. My sister, Katie, picked Amber up from daycare wearing it and assumed she got it from the obvious "tutu maker" of the family.

Needless to say I could not ask a little girl to give her tutu back!!! So I whipped up another one, and me always liking to make things different than the others decided to use the stars, and I love it, even more so than the hearts!

In honor of this hysterical story, I am working on a tutorial to share with all of you on the no-sew Tutu! Hopefully I can get it together by next week, so look out for it. I owe everyone something fun to make as I have enjoyed so many of all your tutorials :)

Saturday Morning Projects

Zack this morning left to work on his parents bathroom makeover, so I decided to steal the idea from Susan's Colorful Life to do a project with Camryn after Jacoby went for his nap. She loves doing projects, so I thought it would be much more rewarding crafting with her this morning than by myself still trying to master my ruffles. Our garland banner didn't turn out as perfect as the ladies fromm Susan's, but take into consideration that the items were found sper of the moment thru out the house and my 4 year old had the driver seat of the project most of the time :)))))

We decided to make Grandma a St. Patricks Day present (early) so she can add it to her holiday decoration collection for St. Patrick's Day. She has decorations for every holiday from Easter, 4th of July and even president's day. We figured we'd make this one for Grandma because she loooovvvvves Irish day!!!!! And decided the next banner we make will be for "Mammi" (other grandma, just called Mammi), for Easter, since Camryn had such a good time creating this banner masterpiece. We still plan on putting one together for our house too later, but its such a nice day for once around here (50 degrees and sunny) Its been awhile, so Camryn is getting some fresh air.

We found construction paper, all different kinds of green markers, paints, felt, stamps, stickers etc. And a pair of Zack's old boxers. Don't worry they were washed and clean, its not like I took them out of the dirty laundry basket!!! Plus it was the only shamrock type of fabric I could find worthy of cutting up. She did most of the decorating and cutting and I did most of the glueing. I tried to leave most of it up to her, but I strung it all together afterward.

Ta Dah!!!! I think its adorable and so homey because she put so much effort in it.

ANd the after math, I didnt want to leave that out!!!!

"Oh So" I have a problem!

So today Im surfing around blogs, and what do I come across a giveaway for a pillowcase dress at www.cupcakemagsprinkles.blogspot.com that are "oh so" adorable, which I found from BullFrogs And Butterflies post today. From there I scrolled down and saw an add button for "Oh So Sassy" (and man, I am a pushover when it comes to "sassy" stuff). So I fish around and within in 5 minutes I made a purchase! Woops, not like I really need another project to do, but I couldnt help myself. Check out this adorable dress on this adorable girl!

Yes, I plan on making it for Camryn now, because they have DoItYourself Kits, thats right DIY kit!!!! How fun. I haven't come across that, usually its just the finished product or pattern and you buy all your own stuff to make it with, but nope this one comes with that awesome red patterned fabrics. Needless to say I am super excited and wanted to share, so I will have to post the end result down the road too!

Don't forget about the pillowcase dress giveaway though, those are super cute too! This is the one I posted as my favorite :)

I did practice with ruffles again last night, but have no end product to show yet. I happened to brake the needle on the machine so I had to call it quits for the night! Me and that needle are just not getting along this week :O

My First Ruffles

Last night I decided to experiment after coming across the "Ruffles and Stuff" blog and contest. This is my first attempt at my "own" ruffles. Came out OK, but I definitely need to experiment more! The ruffles are so cute, but when sat in front of the sewing machine I had a brain freeze of what to put ruffles on! Any great things to put ruffles on???? I am going to need some more inspiration pictures, I think the problem is there are so many things to put ruffles on and I only have so much time. So here was my first attempt:

I took an older B. Republic Jersey material shirt I had that me and my sister wore when we were pregnant, and haven't worn since. My intention was to turn it into a summer jersey knit dress for Camryn, but it turned into an apron :) that I will probably gift to my sister Katie as a joke since it was a "pregnancy" shirt we both wore as I look what I did! I did really like taking some scrap fabric though and turning it into a scrunchy flower using the ruffle tutorial. Speaking of Ruffles and Stuff, today she's hosting a giveaway of an apron she made last night as well. Its adorable, and can I say, much better than mine! (but who makes an apron out of jersey material lol, me)

A Lemony Kimono

So I almost fainted (twice!!)

The scene of the crime! (and lampshade I will be redoing hopefully this week after seeing one I love at LuvinTheMommyhood today.) So last night as I was finally getting my niece Grace's Kimono finally accomplished for her I hit a bit of trauma. Tuesday nights are my definite crafting nights. Zack goes Bowling (yes I said bowling, absolutely hilarious, my dad and others conned him into joining their league team last year, its pretty intense I hear haha) Anyway so I got the kids in bed (finally) and began my nights endeavors at my new work station. I thought I had been going at a nice pace, making sure the Kimono was coming out in a nice fashion and before I knew it, I SEWED MY THUMB!!!!

I am not one for blood, guts, or anything of the sort at even a fraction of something occurring involving broken bones, cuts, and blablabla. So mind you I am home alone with the kids sound asleep upstairs and I am sitting in my chair with my thumb stuck and me about to lose conscienceness. Somehow I pulled myself together within minutes took care of the needle(Ill spare you the details there) and then ran to completely disinfect my thumb just in case leaving a whole in it would cause me to need amputation, cause a heart attack (who knows maybe from some weird bacteria on the needle would trigger something). Funny thing is, these are the things running through your head even though its not that serious, but to me it was more traumatizing than giving birth! After completely disinfecting it and wrapping it up as if my whole finger was cut off, I removed part of the cotton ball to realize the tip of my thumb was bleeding at two ends, ick ick ick, I get nautious thinking about it. Never in my right mind would I have imagined to pull this one off and then have to take care of it on my own, no mom or hubby to whine at and say help me!

Within minutes though I had called Laura my crafting partner in crime to enthrall with the details and laughed about it. Zack got home and we laughed about it again.

So this morning I wake up, get out of bed, about to jump in the shower and I tell Zack, OMG my arm is super weak and feels really weird. He starts rambling on as any unserious guy would about oh no do you think you have internal bleeding, what if you need to do this or this happens etc. I instantly turn the color blue, yell for him to shush, get in the cold shower (b/c the water was not warmed up yet for me, you know how the first shower of the day seems like forever until the water gets warm) and make him get me a drink as I drop to my knees, feel like I am going to vomit, pass out and anything in between. My ears were ringing so loud I couldn't hear him asking me are you ok. A few minutes later I started to come "to" again. Ringing went away, nauseau subsided, I could open my eyes, and voila! my arm felt normal. I hope that is my one and only crafting injury for awhile, I am used to being pricked, glued and whatnot all the time but not the needle all the way through again please!

Did I tell you I hate blood and everything of the sort???? :) (I can barely give blood when needed without passing out)

End result though, Grace's Kimono got completed!

And I got a great big kick and laugh out of the Cobeman this morning with his crazy hair I am able to share.

On a side note also at LuvinTheMommyhood, I came across this contest about creating something with ruffles, check out the button on my side bar. I just received this little catalog in the mail yesterday and these items totally inspired me to create ruffles, and now this contest, I think adding ruffles is in my future to something just not sure what yet. Help! Need to take a poll!

I am having a mental breakdown over what fabric to pick to make Camryn a dress for Easter with. It wouldn't be so dramatic if I hadn't already tried to make her a dress for Christmas and it didnt turn out how I'd wanted it and gave up and turned it into a skirt. Hubby Zack thought a gave up, so I think his faith in me to succeed at this outfit for her will not be good either and I want to prove him wrong.

My plan is to make her a cute dress for Easter with maybe a matching purse and Jacoby a matching tie and Zack a matching Pocket Square. It may all end up a bit cheesy in the end if we all match but hey, I DONT CARE! My family will get a kick out of it! (and secretly wish they had me to make them all this stuff all the time too hehe)

So my question to all of you is what of these would be best for a cute dress or any other PINK fabric ideas would be greatly appreciated. I am looking for something cute and modern but PINK b/c Camryn has been asking for a Pink dress for awhile, so here is my opportunity.

What does your Dove say to you?

So I am an addict, of chocolate that is (and Diet Coke, and fabric, and photos). Is that so wrong???

Sometimes when I am working I think my poor body, how does it know how to live off only chocolate? So today I got the chocolate munchie again, happens quite often. So I ran to CVS and picked up a package of Dove Chocolates. No, not just one simple piece or even bar of chocolate can satisfy me, I need a whole "dang" bag! So opening up about my 5th one, I finally decide to read what the wrapper said, "smile, you're eating chocolate." So I tried to smile even though I am miserable sitting at my desk thinking about the fun daddy is having at home with the kids today, but then I thought, I should have a smile on 24/7 for all the chocolate I eat :) Now there's a happy thought!

Safari Safari, Giraffs :)

I finally made use of this Safari fabric I've been hanging onto and adoring for months!

I finally had an image and followed through, and so here is Camryn modeling the new giraffy fabric by Alexander Henry Dressy, I just adore. The flower is detachable, it was going to be permantly attached but Zack said he liked it better with out and I really wanted to add something more frilly to the fun designer fabric but plainer dress style. So there is with matching headband and all!

Camryn isn't up for modeling much these days, I usually have to snap 100 pictures and hope for the best as she rolls her eyes and makes goo goo faces at me and is like mommy no more pictures! But when I dont take pictures of her she asks me to take her picture. Oh how the world will never understand us women but us :)

The dress is fully lined and zipper, I was so excited for my new sewing adventure and loved it turned out good. HollieKs
